Pompéia Stud Earrings
One of Lina Bo Bardi’s most enduring and well-known buildings is the SESC Pompéia. Sponsored by the Social Service of Commerce (SESC), Bo Bardi converted an old steel drum factory into a large center for leisure and recreation. She placed an emphasis on preserving the old building, showcasing its beauty, paying homage to the work that had happened in it, and then creating a space that promotes leisure and recreation.
The space that emerged cultivated community and tied all different people from all walks of life together and continues to do so to this day. She was a socialist and believed in equality for all. In that regard, the SESC Pompéia is the best encapsulation of her philosophy.
