Scarpa had a creative obsession with doubles and juxtaposition. You can see it in the railings he designed for the Fondazione Querini Stampalia renovations, the pillars in almost every single building and renovation, and even in the mounts he designed for the museums he renovated. Most of his proportions were based on 5.5 or 11, and even his name has eleven letters. Some people say that his obsession started from his home town of Vicenza and the abundance of columns there. 

Here I pulled together a few juxtapositions and doubles of my own; square and round, silver and gold, tall and short. The center crevice is intentionally blackened to provide contrast between the juxtapositions.
